Active Police Officer Decapitated by Criminal Group in Tabasco

On October 4th, a video circulated showing a group of armed men interrogating a man who identified himself as a police officer.

The State Government has confirmed the identity of the state police officer who was shown being interrogated by a suspected criminal group and was later found decapitated.

In an interview, the Secretary of Government, José Ramiro López Obrador, assured that the appropriate investigation files have been initiated for the incident and emphasized that efforts to combat crime will continue.

“He was recognized as a police officer, and his family has identified him. – What is the government’s stance on this? – We will continue our work to ensure the safety of citizens. – Does this mean that organized crime is involved in the Public Security Secretariat? – No, not at all. We are working in coordination to achieve security. – Are these messages being sent to the government? – It is the struggle of gangs fighting for territory, but the government is not involved in this. – Are they trying to intimidate through the kidnapping and execution of police officers? – Not at all. These are elements that are likely involved, and if they are, it is the fight for territory,” he explained.

López Obrador pointed out that the fact that one or three elements are carrying out acts they should not be doing does not mean that the entire corporation is acting in the same way.

It is worth remembering that on Friday, October 4th, a video circulated showing a group of armed men with covered faces interrogating a man who identified himself as a state police officer and confessed that the wave of violence on Thursday, October 3rd, in Villahermosa and surrounding areas was generated by the criminal group known as “La Barredora.”

Hours later, the man’s head was found inside a bag in the Coronel Traconis ranch, first section, in Centro.
