Chihuahua ranked second in the nation as a tourist destination without a beach. The Chepe passenger train, Parque Barrancas and the Magical Town of Creel are the state’s main attractions.

In addition, so far this year, the state’s airports have received more than 2.6 million passengers, a figure that is expected to increase substantially in the last third of the year, said Governor María Eugenia Campos Galvan (PAN).

She said that Chihuahua has a varied ecosystem that includes desert, plains and mountains, which allows for multiple attraction spaces for visitors who like adventure, history or archaeology.

One of the great existing attractions is the Chepe passenger train, whose route begins in the city of Chihuahua and crosses the Sierra Tarahumara to Sinaloa, making the journey a unique experience.

Governor Campos Galvan mentioned that the Sierra Tarahumara is home to sites such as the Magical Town of Creel and the Barrancas Park, which is equipped with one of the longest cable cars in the world, as well as zip lines that offer a spectacular view and have positioned it as one of the 100 must-see places in Mexico.

She also referred to the Samalayuca Dunes as another of the places preferred by visitors since, in addition to the unparalleled visual spectacle, the space is suitable for sandboarding.

“But we also have Parral, which has one of the oldest mining areas in our country,” she commented.

The Chihuahua state leader explained that, according to information from the Ministry of Tourism, so far in 2024 the state’s airports have received more than 2 million 600 thousand passengers, a figure that is expected to increase substantially in the last third of the year, thus contributing to the economic impact derived from this sector, which at the end of 2023 exceeded 16 billion pesos.

And she assured that Ciudad Juárez occupies the first place in hotel occupancy, with an average of 64.37 percent and an estimated economic impact of more than 4.3 billion pesos, until the month of August.
