Heavy Rains Expected in Chiapas, Tabasco, and Veracruz, and a Low-Pressure Channel over Campeche

For this Friday, a low-pressure channel over Campeche, interacting with the influx of humid air from the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, is expected to cause heavy rains in Chiapas, Tabasco, and Veracruz, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN), as published by La Jornada.

The heavy rains could be accompanied by electrical discharges, as well as causing flooding, rising river and stream levels, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas of the mentioned states. Therefore, the population is urged to follow Civil Protection recommendations.

Additionally, intervals of showers are expected in Campeche and Oaxaca, and isolated rains in areas of the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Yucatán.

Other low-pressure channels over the northwest and west of the Mexican Republic and the influx of humid air from the Pacific Ocean will cause rains and showers in areas of Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Sinaloa, as well as isolated rains in areas of Baja California Sur, western Chihuahua, and Sonora.

In contrast, minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees with frost are expected in high areas of Chihuahua, State of Mexico, Durango, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz, and from 0 to 5 degrees with possible frost in high areas of Aguascalientes, Chiapas, Mexico City, Coahuila, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas.
