Inspectors from Imoveqroo Exposed for Detaining Tourists Without Reason in Tulum

A video that went viral on social media shows inspectors detaining a group of Chileans for renting motorcycles, despite having the necessary permits.

A recent video shared on social media has placed the inspectors of the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) at the center of controversy, as they were recorded detaining tourists at unexpected checkpoints set up in various areas of Tulum.

At one of the checkpoints located on Cobá Avenue, a passerby captured the moment and expressed surprise at the authorities’ intervention, who refused to provide information on the reasons behind the detentions.

This situation occurs during the low season, when Tulum experiences a decrease in tourist arrivals and local businesses struggle to attract visitors.

The implementation of these operations has generated a torrent of criticism from the local community, questioning the priorities of Imoveqroo. Some suggest that the actions could be related to possible acts of corruption, fueling distrust towards the authorities.

One of the most notable incidents involved a group of Chilean tourists who were detained in the rain after renting ATVs.

Despite having all the required documents, including valid driver’s licenses, the detention was carried out without apparent reason, causing indignation and negatively affecting their experience in Tulum.

The checkpoints seem to be primarily aimed at tourists and tourist transport services, raising concerns among sector entrepreneurs. Many believe these measures affect Tulum’s image as a friendly and safe destination.

At the same time, other mobility issues in the region, such as the control of rental and transport companies, seem to receive insufficient attention from the authorities.

The situation has raised questions about whether the actions of Imoveqroo and its delegate in the area are aligned with efforts to improve both tourism and mobility in Tulum.

The local community demands a thorough review of policies and supervisory practices to ensure that operations do not hinder the arrival of visitors or damage the reputation of this prominent tourist destination in the Mexican Caribbean.
