Jalisco aims for growth: economic and tourism strategy for 2024-2030

This Tuesday, October 10, the Governor-Elect of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, chaired the presentation of his Economic Cabinet for the period 2024-2030. During the event, the strategic plans to boost the economic development of the state in the coming years were detailed.

Lemus Navarro announced Mauro Garza Marín as General Strategic Coordinator of Development and Economic Growth. Garza Marín, former president of Coparmex Jalisco (2017-2020), pledged to continue consolidating Jalisco as an economic engine of the country. Among the highlighted initiatives, an investment of 100 million pesos in tourism infrastructure was mentioned, with the aim of promoting the Magical Towns of Jalisco, as well as Puerto Vallarta and the Costa Alegre as world-class beach destinations.

In the area of tourism, Michelle Fridman Hirsch was presented as the next Secretary of Tourism. With extensive experience in the sector, Fridman Hirsch will lead, in his own words, a state policy that seeks to create a sustainable, inclusive and long-term tourism ecosystem. This plan includes the creation of a Tourism Observatory and a Tourism Intelligence Center, as well as security strategies to consolidate Jalisco as a safe and attractive destination. In addition, the state will seek to connect by air, land and sea, promoting local and foreign investment.

Another of the appointments was that of Cindy Blanco as Secretary of Economic Development. Blanco, who has experience in the business field and in promoting economic development in Zapopan, will work on attracting investments and consolidating three global clusters: health, film and semiconductors. Likewise, clean and sustainable energies will be promoted, with the aim of positioning Jalisco as a strategic logistics center in Mexico and Latin America.

Finally, the Governor-elect stressed that the objective is for Jalisco to double its GDP compared to the growth of the national economy at the end of the six-year term. The actions will be oriented towards a regional approach and will promote agro-industrial development and entrepreneurship as fundamental pillars for the economic growth of the entity.
