The reconversion of the Port of Tampico has stopped

The private sector is asking for more time in the port reconversion project, they have submitted extensions since March, informed the Secretary of Tourism of Tamaulipas, Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez.

For 7 months, businessmen have requested extensions of up to 60 days, this in order to organize their projects.

“The bidding is stopped, we have knocked on doors and there has been no progress, businessmen are asking for extensions to be able to put together their plans, develop their project, that is what it is going for.”

He said that they are strongly insisting that this operation be carried out, they are even looking for a way to grant the Customs to the state so that they can invest resources.

“This is a plan that we have, the bidding issue is in force, it may be that it goes to one of the two companies that has the bidding, option ‘B’ would be that one.”

The official explained that the extensions are for 60 days, they conclude and start again; “We have to knock on ASIPONA’s door to get some progress, but as of now, where we know it is, it is stuck.”

The Administration of the National Port System of Tampico (Asipona) published the bidding process in the Official Gazette of the Federation on March 30, 2023.

The bases establish a minimum capital of 100 million pesos to participate in the ASPN/TAMPICO/IHTC/01/2023 contest, with the aim of awarding a 20-year contract for the use, exploitation and development of a surface area of ​​39,448 square meters.
