Woman shot dead at ‘Avenida By Kavia’ hotel in Cancun

On the morning of this Thursday, a woman approximately 30 to 35 years old was shot dead at the entrance of the “Avenida By Kavia” hotel, located in Supermanzana 60. Despite the rapid police mobilization, no arrests have been made.

It was around seven in the morning on October 10 when gunfire was reported at the mentioned lodging center on José López Portillo Avenue, in the heart of the city, through the emergency number 911.

According to preliminary reports, the attackers arrived at the hotel asking for the victim. Upon seeing her come out, they shot her, leaving her body in the lobby of the lodging center. The bullet impacts shattered the entrance glass, highlighting the violence of the attack. The woman, who was inside the hotel at the time of the attack, had no chance to escape.

Municipal Police officers arrived at the crime scene and cordoned off the area. Additionally, personnel from the National Defense Secretariat attended the site to provide security in the area, while the investigative police collected evidence and testimonies. In the midst of the tragedy, the victim’s colleagues arrived at the scene, visibly affected and in a state of desperation, seeking answers about what happened.

Initial reports indicate that the criminals managed to escape, although it is unknown whether they did so in a vehicle or motorcycle. Finally, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived to begin investigations and transport the victim’s body, who was wearing turquoise blue shorts and a navy blue blouse. Investigations continue, and more details about this crime are expected to be obtained.
