The forum “Gender Identity and the Destruction of Identity,” scheduled for October 12 in San Miguel de Allende, does not have the permits to be held and will not be granted, since it is an event that goes against the human rights agenda.
The Undersecretary of Sexual and Gender Diversity of the state government, Ricardo García, announced that, after a series of calls with officials of the municipal government of San Miguel de Allende, it was detected that the host hotel has not requested the necessary permits and it was agreed that, in case it requests them, they will not be granted.
Ricardo García pointed out that the municipal government agrees not to host events that go against the human rights agenda, and particularly with regard to people of sexual and gender diversity.
“I appreciate the support and sensitivity to work together (…) As a team, like these days, is how we will strengthen the culture of respect and human rights for our population,” he said.
The state official indicated that, if the hotel decides to go ahead with the forum, it will have to face the corresponding administrative actions, because the event will be charged by the organizers and there will be the presence of the Inspection Department.
