Could another disturbance form in the Gulf of Mexico?

After a relatively calm middle of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season, Florida has recently faced significant damage from two hurricanes—Helene and Milton—that made landfall in the state.

Could there be more trouble brewing in the Gulf of Mexico? According to meteorologists at AccuWeather, an area of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move into the western Caribbean later this week, potentially developing into another tropical storm.

However, a report by WESU NBC News in New Orleans suggests a different outcome. Their models indicate that the disturbed weather may head towards the Bay of Campeche in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico and dissipate within a little over two weeks.
