FIC: Casa Oaxaca opens!

With textiles, alebrijes, spirits and chocolate, the Casa Oaxaca, a “little piece” of the state in the city of Guanajuato, officially opened its doors as part of the International Cervantino Festival.

For 17 days, the capital’s residents will be able to see what makes Oaxaca the cultural heart of Mexico, said the Secretary of Culture of Oaxaca, Saymi Adriana Pineda.

Through exhibitions and gastronomic displays, Oaxaca will show the culture of its 16 indigenous peoples and one Afro-Mexican people.

The governor of Guanajuato, Libia García Muñoz Ledo welcomed both the Oaxacan authorities and the Brazilian ambassador, Nedilson Jorge, inviting all the people of Guanajuato to visit the Casa Oaxaca and highlighting the importance of Oaxacan women in the culture.

Casa Oaxaca can be visited until October 27 at El Guaguancó, at Plaza de la Paz 62, in front of the House of the Three Powers.
