According to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), the incidence of theft in Baja California Sur has shown a decrease of 3.4% until the second quarter of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. Despite this improvement, the southern region of the state continues to concentrate the highest number of cases.

Regarding vehicle theft, the situation has remained relatively stable in Baja California Sur, with 357 investigation files registered between January and August 2023, compared to 354 complaints in the same period of 2024.

Within this category, the theft of four-wheeled cars is the most common, accumulating 231 complaints so far this year, in contrast to motorcycles, which registered 123 reports to the public prosecutor’s office.

Los Cabos continues to lead the list as the municipality with the highest incidence of vehicle theft, with 178 investigation files until August 2024, followed by La Paz with 140 cases. Comondú reported 20 complaints, while Mulegé and Loreto registered eight cases each.
