At the beginning of next year, the lodging applications will be required to pay the tax for the provision of services to the state government, reported Elizabeth Quintanar Gómez, Secretary of Tourism in Hidalgo.

After her appearance before the local Congress, she announced that they are already preparing an initiative to present to the deputies, and at the same time they are holding talks with those in charge of the Airbnb platform.

She indicated that each entity sets the amount of the withholdings that the state makes on lodging applications and announced that in the case of Hidalgo it will be 3 percent.

“We have worked on the initiative with the Ministry of Finance and Airbnb throughout Mexico. In 22 states they already charge the tax, but all states are different, we charge 3% of the lodging tax. Hotels pay all the taxes and what we want is for the platforms to do so as well,” she mentioned.

The secretary indicated that the municipalities that make up the Mountain Corridor are those that concentrate the largest number of spaces for renting rooms through platforms, such as Mineral del Monte, Mineral del Chico and Huasca, as well as Zimapán.

Regarding the exhortation made by the deputy Karla Perales to regulate the access of minors to events where there is sale of alcohol and violence or animal cruelty, such as palenques and bullfights, the state official indicated that they will put in the advertising of each event that they promote and that is carried out in the entity a notice of classification and recommendations regarding that they are suitable only for those over 18 years of age.
