Mayor Highlights Significant Investment in Public Works, Improvement of Public Services, and Image of the Port of Mazatlán

In the municipality of Mazatlán, this year, a mix of resources from the three levels of government resulted in an investment of 706 million pesos in urban and rural areas for public works.

Additionally, 254 million pesos were invested in supplies and equipment for the public services area over the past two years, highlighted Mayor Édgar González Zataráin during an ordinary session while submitting the written report of activities to the municipal council.

Stability

Before the council members and the trustee prosecutor Claudia Cárdenas Díaz, the officials of his cabinet, and the president of DIF Mazatlán, María Teresa Apodaca, he emphasized that the most important achievement was governmental stability.

He also mentioned that among the work carried out were the cleaning of 70 kilometers of channels and streams to mitigate flood risks and the improvement of 400 kilometers of rural roads.

Work

Furthermore, 133.6 million pesos were allocated for the rehabilitation of hydrosanitary infrastructure, improvements in educational centers, rehabilitation of recreational spaces, sports facilities, and restoration of plazas.

González Zataráin highlighted that seven pumping stations, collectors, and sub-collectors were replaced, and 48 streets were paved, including the installation of water and drainage networks.

To improve the urban image, 28 million pesos were invested, with notable projects including the remodeling of historical monuments, beach access points, and the rehabilitation of small plazas, he elaborated to the attendees.

While the mayor was giving his speech, environmentalists and citizens protesting against the zip line and the closure of beach access points continued their demonstration in the Republic Plaza.

He also highlighted that over 7 million pesos were invested in improvements to the municipal hospital.

Lack of Time

The mayor stated that he leaves convinced and very satisfied to have found support from the officials and council members who were willing to work and thus fulfill the citizens’ needs. “What we lacked was time because we have plenty of willingness.”
