Mérida presents new cultural offerings; Festival of Souls, White Night, the Mérida Fest, among others

New cultural offering to enjoy the peace and warmth of the so-called White Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan, was presented to national and foreign visitors and tourists by the municipal president Cecilia Patrón Laviada (PAN).

These are four events that reflect the cultural identity that distinguishes the Meridians; the Festival of the Souls, La Noche Blanca, the Mérida Fest and the Mart´hon.

The shows begin this October and end in January 2025, she reported at a press conference, in which she presented the details of the events, as well as the lodging capacity and interconnectivity that the city has for its visitors.

The Festival of the Souls, a celebration that is a citizen initiative and includes the Paseo de las Ánimas, the monumental altar, night tours of the cemetery, bicycle rides and a display of altars, among other activities, which will take place from October 26 to November 8 of this year.

Within this festival, the 7th Mucbipollo Fair will be held on Sunday, October 27, in the San Sebastián neighborhood, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., to promote and preserve the Yucatecan culinary tradition, in addition to the economic benefits it generates for local families.

White Night is the city’s festival in which culture takes to the streets. In its 18th edition, which will be on November 29, the Mérida City Council, in addition to the Historic Center, will take the Eve on the 28th to neighborhoods and police stations that can be enjoyed by visitors. There are 72 venues, 300 activities, and more than 80 thousand attendees are expected.

Another great sporting event is the opening of the Mérida Open Akron, an international tournament in the 250 category with more than 32 international and national players, with transmission to more than 180 countries.

This edition will feature tennis players Donna Vekic, number 18 in the WTA rankings, and Renata Zarazúa, the most important Mexican player today.

The Mérida Fest will be held from January 5 to 26 of next year to commemorate the 483 years of the founding of the capital of Yucatán, through a platform that promotes local and international talent. The celebrations will have 40 venues, 200 performances, 730 artists and 150 thousand attendees are expected.

The Mérida Marathon will take place on January 5, 2025 from the starting point at the Monumento a la Patria, at 5 a.m., with the distances of a marathon of 42.195 kilometers, a half marathon of 21.097 kilometers, a 10-kilometer race and a three-kilometer walk.
