Detienen a 'El Pantera', presunto líder del Cártel del Noreste en Zacatecas

The Spokesperson for the State Peace Building Roundtable in Zacatecas reported on Wednesday the arrest of three alleged members of the Cartel del Noroeste, including Carlos Daniel ‘N’, alias ‘El Pantera’, who was identified as the criminal group’s boss.

According to the statement published regarding the arrests, these were the result of intelligence work and effective coordination between security forces of the three levels of government.

They added that the three detainees “could be involved in recent violent events that occurred in the Municipalities of Zacatecas and Guadalupe.

The arrest took place in the Las Américas neighborhood when elements of the Immediate Reaction Force of Zacatecas (FRIZ) of the State Police, in coordination with personnel from the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the Investigative Police of the State Attorney General’s Office, located a gray Ford Taurus vehicle, in which the “armed” detainees were found.

Upon noticing the presence of the security forces, they “attacked with gunshots”; the attack was repelled and the arrest was made.

The detainees were identified as América Yael N., 20 years old, a minor of 16 years old, both from Zacatecas, and Carlos Daniel N., 23 years old, from Chiapas, who was identified as the leader of a criminal cell in the state.

In addition, two long weapons, one short weapon, five magazines filled with various calibers, 44 packages of “dry grass”, presumably marijuana, 12 packages with a “granulated substance”, presumably crystal, and four “homemade” explosive devices were seized.

The detainees, as well as the weapons, probable drugs, explosives and the vehicle, were placed at the disposal of the competent authority, so that the legal investigation can be carried out.
