The governor, Esteban Villegas Villarreal, will meet with the general of the Third Military Region, to whom he will propose a strategy of shielding that covers not only the highways, in which the Police of Sinaloa and Durango participate, together with the National Army and the National Guard, which begins from the port of Mazatlán, since it is there where the merchandise that comes from Asia enters to this entity.
He also argued that to keep Durango shielded, it is necessary to request a reinforcement of elements of the National Guard and the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), deployed throughout the highway, mainly in the sections that are in Sinaloa since Durango already presents secondary effects of what happens in that state.
He recalled that the ecotourism centers located in the mountain area have already registered a significant decrease in the number of reservations, since while in previous years for these dates they already registered 80 percent occupancy, now they only reach 20 percent, which is already affecting the economy not only of local businessmen, but also the economic impact of the state in general.
“And it is because the road is not armored, just as we have it up to where it is necessary for us,” said Villegas Villarreal, referring to the purpose of the meeting with authorities of Sinaloa, is to seek an agreement that allows the state to maintain the levels of security, “and what do we have to do so that the problem can be resolved in Sinaloa?” he said.
He compared the situation with the one experienced at the time with the neighboring state of Zacatecas, where they also raised their hand to support them with the maintenance of security, especially in the municipalities with which they share a border, because it is not convenient for the people of Durango that the levels of insecurity are so high in those areas, since something can happen every day.
“People get stressed,” said the state leader, who said that people have made their concerns known to him, which are the ones he hears based on rumors on social networks, “we do not want that to happen, and a lot of investment is coming,” he said.
And it is that an important film project is coming, which he did not elaborate on much since he is not allowed to reveal information, hence he only limited himself to saying that the filming of a very large film is being carried out, however, security needs to be guaranteed.
