France boosts its presence in Mexico with investments in energy, automotive and health

France is strengthening its economic ties with Mexico by promoting investments in key sectors such as energy, automotive and health, according to the announcement made by the French ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione.

She highlighted that “French companies maintain a strong interest in Mexico, allocating resources to modernize and expand their operations in key areas.”

In the automotive sector, an investment of 800 million dollars is projected over the next five years to optimize French operations in the country.

On the other hand, in the energy sector, investment plans for 2.5 billion dollars were announced for the development of green hydrogen, “a commitment to advance the transition towards cleaner energy.”

In the health sector, Borione highlighted the progress in the development of new products such as the probiotic heterogermina, which seeks to improve the well-being options available in the country.

She assured that this type of project is accompanied by efforts in innovation, technology transfer and the development of infrastructure, crucial elements to enhance the economic relationship between Mexico and France.

The ambassador also highlighted the importance of Mexico as a strategic platform for the North American and Latin American markets, noting that the conditions of nearshoring in the country offer great opportunities, although not without challenges such as “guaranteeing access to clean and abundant energy, improving infrastructure, ensuring adequate water resources and developing the human talent necessary for the industries of the future.”

For her part, Hajer Najjar, general director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) France Mexico, mentioned that French companies are observing the political panorama with caution in view of the upcoming elections in the United States and the recent reforms in Mexico.

“Obviously, it is a challenging period, we do not know the impact that the elections in the United States and the situation of the reform of the Judicial Branch will have on investments, but the companies that are already here continue their activity and continue to grow,” said Najjar.

He also stressed the importance of economic and political stability for French companies to continue investing in Mexico.

“Mexico remains a country of opportunities, companies that come here are looking for a stable environment and, in general, Mexico has maintained that stability,” said Najjar.

He added that the collaboration between France and Mexico strengthens the confidence of French companies, allowing them to continue expanding their operations in the country.

Finally, he highlighted the role of CCI in representing French companies before the Mexican authorities, to ensure that they continue investing under optimal conditions and that their concerns are addressed in the face of the political and economic changes facing Mexico.
