The criminal cells operating in the Las Torres invasion are closely linked with members of criminal groups active in the irregular settlement In House, as well as in the city of Chetumal.
In this area, reports of gunfire, drug seizures, short and long firearms, narcotics, magazines, and cartridges, as well as reports of people injured in armed attacks, clandestine alcohol sales, sex work, and bars, have become constant.
In the Las Torres invasion, two areas operate: “San Judas Tadeo” and “Valle Verde.” The former is controlled by Pablo “N” and José Alberto Santiago “N,” alias “El Flaco,” while the latter is led by Rosemberg “N,” Jonathan “N,” alias “El Panterita,” Geselle Benedicto “N,” and Walberto “N,” alias “El Condor,” all with criminal records.
Playa del Carmen, October 17 – The Las Torres invasion zone in the south of the city has become popularly known as a lawless land, where insecurity prevails and has also become a hub for organized crime groups. These groups have been directly responsible for generating high-impact criminal acts not only within this irregular settlement but throughout the municipality of Solidaridad.
In the Las Torres invasion zone, there are two areas known as “San Judas Tadeo” and “Valle Verde,” controlled by individuals with criminal records, as well as members of criminal cells closely related to organized crime groups operating in other settlements like In House in Playa del Carmen, as well as in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
The San Judas Tadeo area is controlled by a criminal cell led by Pablo “N” – with records of firearm possession and injuries – and José Alberto Santiago “N,” alias “El Flaco,” both with criminal records for involvement in various high-impact incidents, such as the murder of Reyna Estela Chan Dorantes on June 12, who was shot while in her truck at a gas station at the intersection of Lilis and Constituyentes avenues.
It is worth noting that Reyna Chan was in charge of land sales and fee collection in the invasion. She was arrested on January 11 of this year along with six other people, including José Alberto Santiago “N,” alias “El Flaco.” During the arrest, three firearms, various magazines, and cartridges of different calibers, as well as narcotics, were seized.
Another incident linked to them was the arrest of some of their members in the Las Torres invasion on January 17, where a long firearm, a short firearm, magazines, cartridges, a ballistic vest, and narcotics were seized. The following day, a long firearm magazine and over 100 cartridges were detected by canine units.
Pablo “N”’s cell, which controls the San Judas Tadeo area, includes his brother David “N,” Guillermo Mohamed “N” (relative), Otoniel “N” (uncle), Pablo “N” (relative), Carlos Mario “N,” Víctor Manuel “N,” Martiniano “N,” Ricardo “N,” Elit “N,” Aron “N,” José Eliseo “N,” Hugo “N,” and Manuel David “N.”
Pablo “N” has a criminal record for various offenses, including two for health-related crimes on March 7, 2009, and January 19, 2011; another for firearm possession and injuries; and was also processed for health-related crimes on April 15, 2023, at the Municipal Detention Center in Playa del Carmen. Additionally, an expired driver’s license was confiscated from him on November 1, 2019.
Pablo “N” is also linked to the crime of attempted homicide that occurred on July 11, 2019, when, along with Hugo “N” and Manuel David “N,” he injured a man with a firearm before fleeing in a gray Nissan car. The police implemented an operation that resulted in the arrest of the three attackers, who were found with a .22 caliber revolver loaded with six live cartridges, as well as bags containing marijuana.
His brother David “N” also has a criminal record for health-related offenses on October 9, 2021, and was processed for the same crime on April 15, 2023, at the Municipal Detention Center in Playa del Carmen. He also has records for administrative offenses.
Pablo and David are also linked to the disturbances recorded on February 15 of this year in the Las Torres invasion, after a group of at least 60 hooded individuals blocked access, even threatening to burn the police, following the seizure of a property in the mentioned area.
The other cell that controls the Valle Verde area is led by Rosemberg “N,” Jonathan “N,” alias “El Panterita,” Geselle Benedicto “N,” and Walberto “N,” alias “Condor,” who are also linked to various crimes.
One incident they are linked to occurred on June 12 of this year, when they were arrested in the In House neighborhood for the homicide of Guadalupe Ballina Centeno and Reyna Estela Chan Dorantes. During the arrest, two cartridges were seized; four days later, a firearm with a magazine loaded with five 9mm cartridges was seized following reports of gunfire in the Las Torres invasion.
It is worth noting that in the Las Torres invasion zone, reports of gunfire, drug seizures, short and long firearms, narcotics, magazines, and cartridges, as well as reports of people injured in armed attacks, clandestine alcohol sales, sex work, and bars, have become constant. All of this is due to the presence of criminal groups like those mentioned above, which are closely linked to organized crime.
