Respiratory diseases are on the rise in Durango

Given the recent temperature changes that have occurred in the capital of Durango, medical consultations for respiratory illnesses have registered a notable increase of up to 30% in recent days.

Juan Esteban Aguilar Esquivel, Director of Municipal Public Health, pointed out that these cases have become more common in the school population since infections, due to the nature of daily coexistence, can occur every day.

He also indicated that allergies related to rhinitis can be confused with diseases such as seasonal influenza or flu (since they present very similar symptoms such as runny nose, watery eyes, throat irritation, sneezing, among others).
On the part of the management, the main recommendation issued to the population is to go to their family doctor and avoid self-medicating in case of presenting these symptoms, because both rhinitis and influenza or flu must be treated differently, explained the director.

“The most vulnerable groups to these diseases and to the low temperatures that are already beginning to occur are children and the elderly, so we recommend paying more attention to their care, as they are the most vulnerable groups,” said the official https://m.facebook.com/SaludpublicaDC/.

Aguilar Esquivel concluded that the work of the Health Department is permanently maintained to provide the required information to citizens, as well as the medical attention that may be requested.
