Perla Guadalupe Casas Velasco is originally from the municipality of Ejutla de Crespo in the Valles Centrales region and is the producer of the artisanal mezcal Doña Perla, which is present at the 52nd edition of the International Cervantino Festival.

“I am very excited to participate in one of the most important cultural festivals in Latin America. I never imagined that I would be in this important artistic center as an ambassador of Oaxaca,” she said.

Perla is part of one of the family businesses that, with the support of the State Government and the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), exhibit the emblematic drink of the state, mezcal, at Casa Oaxaca, located in Guanajuato.

“Our brand is Doña Perla, a delicious mezcal with a maguey flavor, pure, crystalline and that leaves an aroma of the countryside and the mountains in the mouth,” she said.

She highlighted that through this Festival, the culture of mezcal and the wealth of the towns and communities are shown to the world; In addition, people are invited to visit the Oaxacan state and learn about the process of creating this emblematic drink.

Perla reiterated that government support is crucial to establishing contacts with potential buyers or businesses interested in selling the product in other states of the country or abroad.

“Thanks to the support of the State Government and Sedeco, we feel valued as producers. This support did not exist; it arrived with the Primavera Oaxaqueña,” she added.

The mezcal manufacturer has a stand at Casa Oaxaca and participates in tastings of the drink, talks about the origins of the product, and various tastings.
