Reduces the rainy season in Puerto Vallarta by almost 50%

Unlike in previous years, when the rainy season for Puerto Vallarta was approximately 6 months, this year it was reduced to practically three and a half months, according to the meteorologist and advisor for Civil Protection in the bay, Victor Manuel Cornejo Lopez. “For this region, what happened is that we had a very short rainy season, practically limited to only three and a half months.

Normally, storms, and more so for the coastal areas of the western part of the country, are rainy for approximately 6 months,” said the meteorology specialist. He recalled that practically in May and June it did not rain much, “then there was quite a bit of rain in August and September and, so far in October, there has been almost no significant rain reported, except in certain localities,” he added.

So the rainy season was limited to three to three months only, he reiterated. This does not mean that it has rained less than in previous years, since August and September were above the norm, but the season has yet to end in order to determine the volume of water that fell in this city.

The reduction was due to the lack of presence of hydrometeorological phenomena in the area, because although it was predicted that up to 18 cyclones and tropical storms would occur in the Pacific, to date, a few weeks before the end of the season, only 10 have occurred, and these with little significant presence in the bay.
