Héctor Vela Valenzuela, Secretary General of Government, recalled that in the meeting with Guillermo Briceño, Commander of the Third Military Region, one of the agreements reached was to secure the roads between Durango and Sinaloa.
Vela Valenzuela emphasized that it is not only the roads but also ensuring the transit from the city of Mazatlán to Durango, given that there are goods like wood from Chile that are unloaded at the Mazatlán port.
“Yesterday (Thursday), we had the visit here in Durango of the Third Military Region based in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The main topic was to meet as a peace and security committee and to continue fostering the link with the peace committee in Sinaloa, and above all to ensure the security of the Durango-Mazatlán road transit, both the highway and the free road. But also on the Sinaloa side, to ensure the security from the port to the road, because a large amount of supplies and goods come from the port, such as forest products, for example.”
The state official said that the need for equipment to unblock the lanes of both the superhighway and the free route to the port was confirmed, with implements such as high-capacity cranes and fire-fighting units.
Vela did not rule out the possibility of a meeting with the Sinaloa government, as it has not yet been scheduled.
Working with Strategy
Vela Valenzuela mentioned that there is a strategy called Vive in the Río Dorado subdivision, which has experienced a complicated period due to issues of dependency on illicit substances that now negatively impact citizens.
He commented that the aim is not to stigmatize the area but to remedy what is happening in this residential area, which is outside the urban march of the city of Durango.
Vive Strategy Restructured
Jorge Mojica Vargas, President of the State Citizen Council, commented that during the last session, the topic of the new strategy of the Vive mental health program was addressed, as it is necessary to prevent problems that lead citizens to harm themselves.
Mojica Vargas said that the issue is increasing among young people, so the topic of prevention will be addressed with better management of the financial and human resources currently available in the state.
