‘Taking Mérida’ to Promote the Festival of Souls

It will feature various activities such as the Paseo de las Ánimas, traditional altars, contests, and exhibitions.

The goal of the City Council is to continue innovating in the way culture is shared, thus bringing the community even closer to its roots and traditions. The Festival of Souls 2024 is just around the corner, so this weekend the Mérida City Council, led by Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada, held a thematic dissemination day called “The Souls Take Mérida” at five key points in the city.

The events are scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 3. Characters of souls and catrinas accompanied the City Council staff, who were also dressed up, and they all distributed information about the cultural and traditional activities of the festival, whose motto is: “Make the celebration yours!”

The intersections where this colorful activity took place were Villas Hacienda, Monumento a la Patria, Avenida Canek, Kukulcán, and Avenida Itzáes-Circuito.

At the Monumento a la Patria, the event coincided with the presentation of the videomapping.

According to attendees, the presence of costumed characters was an element that generated surprise and excitement, especially among the little ones, who were able to learn about the celebration of the Souls in a playful way.

The goal of the City Council is to continue innovating in the way culture is shared, and this type of activity brings the community even closer to its roots and traditions.

The Festival of Souls 2024 will feature various activities such as the Paseo de las Ánimas, traditional altars, contests, and exhibitions, and the participation of thousands of citizens and tourists is expected.

This dissemination day and the previous activities are just the beginning of what promises to be one of the most memorable celebrations of the year in Mérida.
