The Great Race for Peace has an elite-packed start

The wait is over and this Saturday the activities of the Great Race for La Paz started with 3 exciting events that showed the high level of Latin American athletics.

The main streets of the Historic Center witnessed a fierce competition in which Omar Fabricio Castillo González was crowned champion in the 10 kilometer Elite, where Central American champions and Olympic athletes were also competing.

With the sunset in the background and the quarry painting the streets, the runners had the luxury of starting from the Portal de Rosales to run a circuit of a little more than a kilometer for 7 laps.

Although the cold increased in intensity as the race progressed, the athletes warmed up more to make their competition clear, where Diego García Bárcenas stood out for Zacatecas.

Lap after lap the runners managed to break away, in a tight contingent that was dominated by the Zacatecan from the beginning of the actions, managing to manage the physical and mental wear and tear.

The cell phones were placed on the edge of the fences and the announcer began to announce the leaders in the last 100 meters and it was there where Omar Fabricio Castillo González crossed the finish line in first position, followed by Zacatecan Diego.

3k Winners

For the 3 kilometer youth in the women’s branch, Zacatecan Hannah Fernanda Ortiz Rodríguez was the leader from the beginning and consolidated herself as the champion.

While in the men’s branch, Sebastián García Arredondo did the same by having a winning rhythm that easily took him to cross the finish line.
