You can now travel from Chiapas to Quintana Roo on the Maya Train! Discover how long it takes and the cost of the trip from Palenque to Cancún.
The Maya Train continues its journey through southeastern Mexico, and although the entire route is not yet complete, you can already travel from Palenque, Chiapas, to Cancún, Quintana Roo. Here, we tell you the cost and travel time between these two destinations.
It is worth noting that the Maya Train project plans to travel through five states in southeastern Mexico, starting from Campeche, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and finally reaching Quintana Roo.
However, the route is not yet complete, as seven of the 34 stations planned for the project are still to be inaugurated, located in Campeche and Quintana Roo.
Currently, according to the official Maya Train website, when booking travel tickets, the longest route available is from Palenque to Cancún Airport station.
Maya Train: Cost and Travel Time Between Palenque and Cancún
If you have decided to travel from Palenque to Cancún aboard the Maya Train, you should know that the departure is at 9:00 AM, arriving in Cancún at 8:37 PM, with a travel duration of 10 hours and 37 minutes.
Conversely, the journey departs at 9:30 AM from Cancún, arriving in Palenque at 7:22 PM, with a travel time of 10 hours and 52 minutes.
It is important to note that on both routes, the Maya Train makes 19 stops, passing through the five southeastern Mexican states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
The costs of the Maya Train vary depending on the fare and service you choose. In the premier class, national tourists must pay $3,391.00, while international tourists pay $4,521.00.
For tourist class, foreign travelers must pay $2,826.00, while nationals pay $2,123.50, and residents of one of the five southeastern states pay $1,199.00.
Remember that people over 60 with their Inapam card, people with disabilities, students, and teachers have a lower price, which is the special fare, and the ticket cost is $1,061.50.
