In Komchén, a commissary of Mérida located in the northern part of the city, an elderly couple was found murdered inside their home. The incident occurred at a residence located on 29th Street between 32nd and 30th, according to preliminary reports.
The discovery was made when a relative visited the home. Upon entering, they found the bodies with visible wounds caused by a sharp object.
According to neighbors’ testimonies, the victims had rented a room in the house to a couple from Mexico City. Unofficially, this couple is suspected of the homicide, although the motives for the attack and their whereabouts are currently unknown.
Authorities have handled the case discreetly, but it has been revealed that the victims had been dead for at least 24 hours before being found.
Elements of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) have cordoned off the area, while the Investigation Police and the State Attorney General’s Office continue with the necessary procedures to clarify the case.
