The Baja California Institute of Sports and Physical Culture (INDEBC) has officially announced the 58th edition of the Baja California Marathon, which will take place on December 8 in Mexicali. The competition will bring together more than a thousand runners in the Ciudad Deportiva, which will be the starting and finishing point of the event.
The director of INDEBC, Laura Marmolejo Toscano, led the press conference in which the details of the marathon were announced, accompanied by representatives of key institutions for the event, such as the director of Imdecuf, Valerio Camargo, and the head of the State Athletics Association, Gerardo Medina.

The marathon will begin at 7:00 a.m. with the start of the disabled athletes, who will be the first to cover the 42.195 kilometers of the route. Shortly after, the conventional runners will begin their journey, challenging their endurance and skills along a route that will cross iconic areas of Mexicali, such as Aviación, Justo Sierra, Lázaro Cárdenas and Gómez Morín.
Registration for the competition is now open and can be done online through the event’s official website. With a limited quota of one thousand conventional athletes and 40 participants with disabilities, registration costs 200 pesos per person.
In addition, the call includes a relay race for 50 teams, with the same registration cost. The delivery of participation numbers will take place on the Saturday prior to the competition.

The event will have various categories to encourage inclusion and participation of people of different ages and conditions. In the conventional modality, there will be categories for men and women from 18 years old, with age divisions that reach up to 65 years and older. For disabled athletes, there are wheelchair, blind and visually impaired, and deaf categories in both categories.
One of the most anticipated attractions will be the raffle of 200 thousand pesos among the runners who manage to cross the finish line in a set time, which will add an extra incentive for the participants. The total prize pool will be distributed among the first five places in the men’s and women’s categories, with prizes of up to 75 thousand pesos for the absolute winners.
