Elements of the Navy (Semar) together with elements of the Criminal Investigation Ministerial Agency (AMIC) were carrying out a ground operation as part of the investigations into the murder in Sonora of the man of American origin Nicholas “N”, but the events resulted in the use of a helicopter against armed subjects.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) reported on the actions on Monday, October 21. Agents of both corporations were searching for those allegedly involved in the death of the man of foreign origin in the desert of the Altar-Caborca region.
At that site, the uniformed officers were attacked by a group of armed people. A Jeep was on a dirt road and when the occupants of the same realized the presence of the agents, they accelerated the vehicle while shooting at the authorities.
They were carrying rifles and tactical equipment
“In light of this attack, air support was requested from the Black Hawk helicopter that was providing cover and located the aggressors, who, when confronted by the ground troops, were neutralized,” is part of the report of the events.
The result was the death of four aggressors, identified as alleged generators of violence. It was during the attack that the uniformed officers requested the support of a Black Hawk helicopter, which supported the coverage of the aforementioned people. On the other hand, the ground troops were the ones who repelled the attack, which resulted in the death of the aggressors.
Subsequently, the security elements carried out the seizure of five AK 47 rifles, four tactical vests, as well as chargers. The identity of the aggressors is not known, nor is it known whether they were related to the death of the American citizen, or whether they were related to any criminal group.
All the material found was made available to the Public Ministry so that the investigations in the case can continue.
Another attack was reported in Sonora on October 19, when two Municipal Public Security agents from Hermosillo were attacked by three individuals who were traveling in a vehicle that was being inspected, resulting in the death of José Ramón “N”.
Meanwhile, the attack against Nicholas “N”, the 30-year-old American, was reported on the night of Friday, October 18, and although the motives that led to the attack against the foreigner who was traveling with two other people are not known, the authorities are already looking for the attackers.
