Sheinbaum receives second notification to ‘remove’ judicial reform from the DOF

This comes after the President showed yesterday that the QR code sent to notify her of the judicial ruling did not work.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the Legal Counsel of the Federal Executive received a second notification to remove the judicial reform from the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), after revealing yesterday that the first notice did not work correctly.

In her morning conference at the National Palace, the president indicated that today the Legal Counsel of the Presidency, Ernestina Godoy Ramos, will send a query to the Congress of the Union on how to proceed with this judicial order.

“Yesterday, it was confirmed that a second notification arrived at the Legal Counsel and the DOF. What did the Legal Counsel do? Today, she will send a communication to the Congress of the Union for their opinion, and the same Legal Counsel asked the DOF what the procedure is,” she indicated.

Sheinbaum Pardo commented that an analysis has been conducted and it is argued legally that the procedure is not sustainable. This is because a publication in the DOF cannot be removed without directly affecting it.

She explained that, upon consulting with those in charge of the DOF through the Ministry of the Interior, she was informed that those responsible for its publication cannot modify any of the publications. If it is necessary to change or rectify a law, a new publication specifying the changes must be made, but no communication can ever be deleted.

“It is not that people decide on their own will, and Article 7 bis states that those in charge of the DOF must guarantee authenticity, integrity, and unalterability. Not only is the amparo law being violated, but also the law of the Official Gazette of the Federation.

“What happens when there are resolutions from the Supreme Court? It is not that it is eliminated, but there is another publication that nullifies it. The law says that the DOF cannot be altered. I wonder, who are the advisors? So, how can a judge make a request that violates several laws?” she questioned.

In the People’s Morning Conference on October 24, Sheinbaum Pardo took the opportunity to criticize the advisors of judges, magistrates, or ministers: “Imagine! Or maybe they are lawyers for those who are part of this group that does not want the reform to pass, from the PRIAN, they should find good lawyers.”

Despite this, she maintained that the judicial reform continues, especially after the resolution of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) for the National Electoral Institute (INE) to continue with the election of judges, scheduled for June 1, 2025. “All Mexicans are going to elect judges, magistrates, and ministers,” assured the President.
