This is the mezcal from Oaxaca that is most highly valued worldwide

Mezcal, an ancestral drink that has gained worldwide recognition, has established itself as a reflection of Mexico’s cultural richness and biodiversity. Originating from various regions of the country, this elixir is made from a variety of agaves, which gives it a complexity of unique flavors and aromas.

In recent years, interest in this liquor has grown exponentially, not only among spirit lovers, but also in the gastronomic and tourist spheres. Festivals, tastings and production experiences have begun to attract a diverse public seeking to connect with the roots and history behind each bottle.

Within this context, a mezcal has stood out thanks to the various awards it has received, establishing itself as one of the best valued worldwide. This is Mezcal Divino, which was awarded the Crystal Taste Award, granted by the International Taste Institute based in Brussels.

In this way, this brand achieved for the third consecutive year, accumulating three gold stars in 2022, 2023 and 2024 to obtain the recognition. Thus accumulating a total of nine gold stars for its quality and excellence, maintaining scores above 90 points in all evaluations

“It is a pride for Mexico, for our people that mezcal, which is the oldest agave distillate, conquers the most specialized palates in the world. And these recognitions that Mezcal Divino Blanco has achieved strengthen our commitment to quality, as a company,” said Pedro Villa, representative of Licores Veracruz, the Mezcal Divino producer, through a press release.

To take home this award, an evaluation is carried out by a jury made up of 250 participants, including specialists, sommeliers and chefs. The tasting is blind, which means that the judges cannot see the bottles or know the origin or brand of the drinks. During the evaluation, they cannot communicate with each other either. The drinks are served in transparent glasses and analyzed under natural light, following five international criteria of sensory analysis: first impression, appearance, aroma, flavor and final sensation.

Among its characteristics, Mezcal Divino Blanco is a pure and crystalline distillate, made from 100% espadín agave in Matatlán, Oaxaca, a region recognized as the capital of mezcal. Its aroma presents soft herbal notes, while in the mouth it is characterized by being fresh and light, with an aftertaste that combines smoky and mineral nuances. This drink is produced in limited batches by Licores Veracruz, focusing on a quality that seeks to be appreciated by mezcal connoisseurs.
