Tulum has launched a comprehensive security strategy called “Blindaje Tulum,” a program aimed at combating insecurity with the help of all three levels of government, more technology, more police specialized in crime prevention, and quadrant-based security, which will provide peace of mind to citizens and tourists.
The municipal president of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo, announced that they will have 15 new patrols, 70 additional officers, and the installation of 600 video surveillance cameras to work on restoring peace and tranquility to Tulum.
“We will not allow crime to continue threatening our peace. Today marks the beginning of a new phase where we will shield Tulum and protect what we love most,” said Castañón.
He added that coordination with institutions such as the National Guard, the Army, the Navy, the State Police, and the Municipal Police will be key. He also invited the community to participate. “Every neighbor, every business owner, every citizen has an important role to play. United, we will be an impenetrable front against crime,” he commented.
For his part, David Ortiz Mena, president of the Tulum Hotel Association, praised Castañón for his commitment to the security of the tourist destination.
