Former Mérida Mayor’s Grandchildren Accused of Fraud; Seize 58 Properties in Yucatán

Former Mayor Rodríguez Abraham suffered from Alzheimer’s, and taking advantage of this condition, his grandchildren made him sign documents to carry out the frauds.

The brothers Herbé Jesús and Gibran Herbé Rodríguez Coello, grandchildren of the late former mayor of Mérida, Herbé Rodríguez Abraham, have been charged with fraud for the illegal appropriation of 58 properties located in Mérida, Motul, Umán, Telchac Puerto, and Progreso. However, the process is currently only proceeding for 38 properties.

The accused will wear electronic bracelets due to the possibility of flight risk. The hearing is scheduled for October 29. Both fraudsters had the open complicity of the notary Monsreal Rodríguez, for which they created a real estate company named Al-malik SA de CV and used it to carry out the fraudulent transactions.

The plaintiffs are the children of the former mayor, Herbé Rodríguez Sahuí and Zary Rodríguez de Castillo, who initiated this legal battle against their children and nephews, respectively.
