While Drug Dealers Are Released, Campeche Farmer Is Sentenced to Prison for Carrying a Firearm

While alleged drug dealers are brought to trial and easily released, a humble cyclist is sent to prison by a judge in the Federal District after being arrested with a firearm in the municipality of Escárcega, Campeche.

Evaristo “N” was arrested, as confirmed by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Campeche (FFC) after being subject to judicial investigation for violating the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, in its form of carrying a firearm without a license.

The man was detained by elements of the Secretariat for Citizen Protection and Security (SPSC), when the police detected him pedaling his bicycle through the streets of the Revolución neighborhood of the city of Escárcega in the municipality of Escárcega, Campeche.

During a routine check, they detected that he was carrying a firearm, of which the type was not specified; unofficial sources indicated that the man is a farmer.

The officers questioned the cyclist about the license or permit to carry the firearm. Since they did not have it, they informed him that he would be arrested and they read him his rights.

They put him at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, attached to the FFC of the FGR in Campeche, which started the corresponding investigation file.

In this way, they took him to the initial hearing before the Specialized Judge in the Federal Criminal Justice System who qualified his detention as legal and finally subjected him to judicial investigation.

Recently, the same FFC announced the link to the process and release of Miguel “N”, who was arrested in Escárcega by elements of the Federal Ministerial Police in a search with 121 grams with 90 milligrams of cocaine.
