A family of three was found dead on Monday in the Vida y Esperanza community, located north of Playa del Carmen. The individuals had been reported missing since October 22.
The discovery was made at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday in a densely wooded area behind Nuevo Noh Bec town within the municipality of Solidaridad, Quintana Roo, which is situated north of Playa del Carmen.
According to local media reports, neighbors in the area noticed an unpleasant odor emanating from the location and subsequently alerted authorities by finding a cell phone signal in the vicinity.
Following the report, members of the Municipal Police of Solidaridad arrived at the scene in multiple vans. Upon arrival, they confirmed the grim discovery – two women and one man, aged 14 and 27, along with a 38-year-old woman, all from the same family who had been missing since October 22.
It was reported that the bodies had likely been abandoned in the undergrowth for several days before being discovered. The area was cordoned off by Municipal Police officers, and notification was made to the Attorney General of Quintana Roo, prompting experts to arrive and conduct initial investigations.
Subsequently, the bodies were removed from the scene and transported to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for a legal autopsy to be performed.
Preliminary reports identified the victims as a 14-year-old girl, a 38-year-old woman, and a 27-year-old man who resided in Vida y Esperanza and had been reported missing.
