Murder at a soccer game in Merida: SSP and FGE arrest “Kuki” and “Sapito”

A tragic incident occurred at a soccer game in Mérida, specifically at the Viernes Santos park in the Emiliano Zapata Sur neighborhood over the weekend. The game ended in violence after several players engaged in a fight following the match’s conclusion.

According to reports, the altercation stemmed from the result of the game and involved several players exchanging words before things escalated into a physical confrontation. Unfortunately, one person lost their life during this incident.

On Monday, October 28, authorities arrested two brothers, Edwin Enrique M.U. (alias “Kuki,” aged 36) and Luis Israel M.U. (alias “Sapito,” aged 34), who are alleged perpetrators of the crime. They were taken into custody and placed at the disposal of a judge for their involvement in qualified homicide and attempted qualified homicide.

Agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) collaborated with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to gather evidence supporting the brothers’ probable responsibility for these crimes.

The events unfolded on October 25 when Edwin Enrique, an electrician by profession, got into an argument with Ángel Jesús C.C. (alias “La Parquita”) over a soccer game in the Emiliano Zapata Sur neighborhood. During this altercation, Edwin allegedly inflicted severe injuries using a broken beer bottle, which ultimately led to Ángel’s death.

Luis Israel, on the other hand, also got into a fight with Abraham C.D. and used a broken bottle to injure him, intending to cause his demise but failing to do so.

Following an investigation that established their probable involvement in these crimes, arrest warrants were obtained and executed on October 28, resulting in the brothers’ detention. The text states that their arrests are a direct consequence of the evidence gathered during the investigation.
