Oaxaca de Juárez registers 65% hotel occupancy due to deaths

During the week of October 21 to 27, a cumulative hotel occupancy of 65.42 percent was recorded, prior to the Day of the Dead celebrations in the city of Oaxaca.

This was reported in a statement by the Oaxaca Tourism Secretariat (Sectur), based on preliminary data from the DataTur monitoring program in 5 to 1 star hotels.

In this sense, hotel occupancy registered an increase starting on Wednesday, October 23 with a hotel occupancy of 64.6 percent, reaching 76.36 percent on Saturday, October 26.

The Government of the State of Oaxaca is carrying out various activities in the Oaxacan capital to celebrate the Most Alive Festival of All from October 26 to November 3, with the aim of honoring one of the most outstanding traditions of the entity, such as the Day of the Dead.

Sectur Oaxaca estimates that the capital of Oaxaca will register a hotel occupancy rate of 78.7 percent during these holidays, the arrival of more than 72 thousand national and international tourists, as well as an economic impact of approximately 289 million pesos.

It also reported that, on the indicated dates, the state of Oaxaca will receive 194 flights from six national destinations such as Mexico City, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), Monterrey, Guadalajara, Tijuana and Cancún, as well as from international destinations such as Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.
