Next Monday, a new transportation service will begin operating in the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres, aimed at improving mobility within the municipality for the benefit of students and workers of Ciudad Mujeres.
During her visit to the House of the Elderly in the Continental Zone, Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde announced that starting on Monday, November 4, the company “Isleños” will launch new routes of the urban transportation service in Ciudad Mujeres, providing an additional alternative for students, homemakers, and workers.
According to Alejandra Peniche Hernández, Director of Transportation, who recently conducted a tour with the concessionaire of the transportation service, the introduction of these new routes is expected to take place within the next few days. The company will operate five new units in the Continental Zone, with 13 designated stops from Monday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. These buses will depart every hour, with pick-up points at both ends: where the “Bienvenidos a Isla Mujeres” sign is located and the return point on the extension of Rancho Viejo Avenue, near the fairgrounds.
Peniche Hernández emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to enable students, workers, mothers, and the entire population to travel safely and efficiently between destinations. The fares will be 10 pesos for adults and 5 pesos for students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities. Initially, the service will cover a distance of approximately 11 kilometers, but depending on demand, it may be extended to include Saturdays and Sundays.
