On Tuesday night, a dramatic incident occurred when armed civilians hijacked a bus traveling on the Mazatlán-Durango highway. The bus was carrying almost 40 passengers from the Omnibus line.
According to reports, the incident took place around 10:00 p.m. on October 29 near the El Sinaloense Tunnel. Unidentified individuals intercepted the bus, leaving its passengers stranded in the middle of the highway. Fortunately, the passengers called for help, and members of the National Guard responded promptly.
The National Guard personnel helped the stranded passengers, who were walking along the toll road towards Mazatlán after being dropped off by their hijacked bus. The federal force elements transferred the victims to a safe location and reported the incident, stating that armed individuals had taken the driver and the vehicle.
Unfortunately, the identity of the bus driver remains unknown, and the stolen bus has yet to be located. This shocking incident occurred despite the Public Security Secretariat of Durango reestablishing a checkpoint at the Baluarte Bridge on the Durango-Mazatlán Super Highway. State police and the Attorney General’s Office of Durango had been conducting inspections and using the Mexico Platform for crime detection in this area.
