Eleven tennis players from Querétaro were rescued after being kidnapped in Irapuato

Ten young people from Querétaro and their coach who were to participate in a tennis tournament in Irapuato, were located in optimal conditions by Guanajuato State Police after having been kidnapped virtually through an extortion call. The events occurred on Tuesday morning when the young people’s relatives lost all communication with them and at the Misión de Villas de Irapuato hotel, it was reported that they had left the rental property without specifying reasons.

Given this situation, the Querétaro Prosecutor’s Office was notified of an alleged kidnapping, so the exchange of information was carried out and through a device by the elements of the Public Security Forces of the State of Guanajuato (FSPE) and elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), it was possible to track the route of the transport in which they were traveling and for this reason they managed to find their whereabouts.

Since the 11 members were in optimal condition, it was reported that it was an extortion call that resulted in a virtual kidnapping for ransom, however it was not consummated and the investigation was handled by the Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with its counterpart in Querétaro to clarify the facts.
