A provisional suspension has been issued against the judicial reform in Yucatan by the Second District Court. Asís Cano Cetina, outgoing president of the PAN’s CDE in Yucatan, confirmed that the court has granted this suspension, obliging authorities to halt their actions related to the reform until a definitive resolution is reached.
Yucatan joins other states where federal courts have also issued provisional suspensions against the judicial reform. This suspension was obtained through an indirect Amparo lawsuit filed by PAN Senator Mayuli Latifa Martínez Simón on October 14, with assistance from the PAN State Committee’s legal department.
The lawsuit designates the Chamber of Deputies and Senators as responsible authorities, along with the INE, Federal Judicial Council, and state legislatures. The next step is an incidental hearing scheduled for November 11. Cano Cetina specified that his successor, Alvaro Cetina Puerto, will be responsible for following up on this matter.
The suspension is based on concerns that fundamental values like the rule of law, impartial justice administration, and division of powers could be affected. This issue will be included in the process of delivery reception of the State Executive Committee of the PAN, with the new elected board responsible for providing updates.
