Murder of evangelical pastor and his son in Playa del Carmen was caused by a land dispute

The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has launched an investigation into the qualified homicide of Tito Pérez Landeros, a local evangelical pastor, and his son Ricardo Josué. The tragic event occurred in the Las Torres invasion colony, within the municipality of Solidaridad.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind this heinous crime may be linked to a territorial dispute over control of a commercial area within the invasion zone. Reports indicate that Pastor Pérez and his son were allegedly involved in a conflict with individuals claiming ownership of this space.

FGE officials, working closely with authorities from all three levels of government, are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for this double homicide. The agency has assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure justice is served and guarantee the security of the area.

On Sunday night, around 10:00 p.m., two individuals were shot near the El Bali residential complex, approximately two kilometers from Federal Highway 307. Witnesses reported that the victims, identified as Pastor Tito Pérez and his son, were intercepted by two suspects on a motorcycle who repeatedly shot them.

One of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other passed away upon arrival at the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital. The hospital staff promptly notified authorities, leading to a police cordon in the area.

Agents from the State Attorney General’s Office collected evidence and removed one of the victims’ bodies, initiating an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. At present, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind this armed attack remains unknown.
