Regenerative and environmentally friendly tourism, Tulum’s commitment to the WTM in London

The city council of Tulum is making a significant commitment to regenerative tourism and environmental respect at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, which will take place from November 5 to 7. This event marks an important step towards placing Mayan communities and the local population at the forefront of inclusive and responsible economic development.

According to Jorge Molina Pérez, Director of Promotion in Tulum, the municipal president’s commitment to tourism promotion is centered on making the Mayan communities and the residents of Tulum the driving force behind a sustainable development model. This approach has been made possible through the support of a hotel sector that prioritizes sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Tulum is well-prepared for its participation at WTM in London 2024, where a summit on regenerative tourism will be held on November 6 at the ExCeL London convention center. The focus of this approach highlights the importance of regenerative tourism for the future of the travel industry. By presenting Tulum’s rich natural and cultural potential as a global benchmark in the region of Mexico and the Caribbean, the city aims to position itself as a leader in sustainable tourism.

Regenerative tourism not only promotes sustainable development but also transforms travelers into agents of change by encouraging the regeneration of the places they visit. This approach aligns with the demands of new tourist profiles, who seek more authentic experiences that connect them with local populations and allow them to enjoy regional gastronomy.

Jorge Molina Pérez emphasized that Tulum has a diverse range of brands and hotel and restaurant establishments that are committed to sustainability and environmental protection. He added that these initiatives reinforce Tulum’s position as a tourist destination dedicated to the well-being of its community and the conservation of its natural environment.

Tulum is positioning itself as a destination that offers unique tourist experiences, connecting visitors with the essence of the region while promoting a conscious and enriching trip. With these efforts, Tulum reaffirms its commitment to becoming a responsible and environmentally friendly tourism leader.
