Viva Aerobus changes its name and announces a new flight policy

The ultra-low-cost Mexican airline Viva Aerobus has undergone a significant transformation, changing its name to simply “Viva” and introducing a new logo. To celebrate its 18th anniversary, the airline announced a new flight policy aimed at providing more flexibility and personalized travel experiences for its passengers.

Under the new policy, called Flex-Sí-bility, Viva offers 11 features that allow travelers to make changes to their flights, including name changes, upgrades, cancellations, and even selling their tickets. The airline’s goal is to provide greater control over trips and allow passengers to adapt to changing plans at any time.

The new logo features a minimalist design with two shades of green and an inverted heart, marking a departure from the traditional green, white, and red colors used by the company. The name change from Viva Aerobus to simply “Viva” is seen as a simplification, aligning with industry trends and emphasizing that Viva is an airline for real travelers.

To implement Flex-Sí-bility, six features are already enabled, including the option to sell tickets, upgrade fares, and modify flight details. The remaining five features will be introduced in the coming days, providing even more flexibility for passengers. Some of these upcoming features include:

– Name change: allowing users to change their name on a ticket up to 2 hours before departure

– Name correction: enabling users to correct minor errors in their name or date of birth at no additional cost

– Rate upgrade: permitting users to upgrade their fare to obtain more benefits and comfort

– Flight change: allowing users to modify the date, time, and/or route of their flight according to their needs

– Sell your ticket: enabling users to sell their ticket to Viva or set a price and have the airline find a buyer

Viva has seen a 7.8% increase in passenger traffic in September compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.3 million passengers transported. The airline’s occupancy factor stood at 88.1% during this period, reflecting an improvement from 86.9% in September 2023. Total capacity in available seat miles (ASMs) also increased by 7.5% compared to the same month last year.

As the airline continues to grow and adapt to changing market conditions, it remains focused on maintaining operational reliability despite challenges posed by engine recalls and extreme weather events. With its new flight policy and logo redesign, Viva aims to provide a more flexible and personalized travel experience for its passengers while maintaining its commitment to low-cost efficiency.

Overall, the rebranding and introduction of Flex-Sí-bility demonstrate Viva’s willingness to innovate and adapt to changing consumer demands, further solidifying its position as one of Mexico’s leading airlines. The airline’s continued growth and commitment to customer satisfaction make it an attractive option for travelers seeking a flexible and affordable travel experience.
