On November 2, dozens of Mazatlan families went to the cemeteries of the city to pay homage to their loved ones on the traditional Day of the Dead.
From early in the morning, the cemeteries, especially the Renaissance, began to receive thousands of people, who arrived with flowers, candles and food to spend the day next to the graves of their relatives.
Some visitors dedicated time to cleaning the graves, cutting the overgrown plants, and arranging flowers. Others chose to pay workers who offered these services on site.
Under the shade of the trees, entire families sheltered from the intense heat that covered the cemeteries, while sharing anecdotes and memories of their loved ones.
So far, no incidents have been reported in the cemeteries of Mazatlan.
At the Renacimiento cemetery, the flow of vehicles on the section of Mexico Avenue 15, where the main entrance is located, was closed to facilitate pedestrian traffic and control vehicle access, which allowed for better organization in the entrance and exit areas.
