The Secretary of Security, Federico Fernández Montañez, announced that, in order to reinforce the borders with Durango, three different meetings were held this week, one of them with the XI Military Region, the next with the Special Command and the third with elements of the State and Municipal Police.
As a background and as has been reported in MILENIO about the events that are taking place in Sinaloa, we can mention, for example, what happened last Saturday, October 26, when the Secretary of Public Security of the government of Sinaloa confirmed that violence had worsened, with several cases of homicides, firearm attacks and roadblocks being recorded.
Regarding this situation and during his visit to the municipality of Torreón, the state official commented: “The truth is that we were in three different meetings this week in the Laguna Region,” he said.
He said that they held a night meeting in which elements of the state and municipal police were present because, although the statistics are favorable to the state, the municipality of Torreón, and the Laguna Region in general, we must not be overconfident or take anything for granted.
“We are reinforcing the borders of Coahuila with Durango but also in the Southeast Region with Zacatecas, Nuevo León, Centro Carbonífera and Norte. At this time, the last three regions are the most important to be careful of.”
Finally, he said that they are working on surveillance and prevention strategies in the borders with Nuevo León and that one of the highway routes where surveillance has also been maintained is the Saltillo-Monterrey route, since there has been knowledge of some robberies with violence and other crimes that, he clarified, have been reported within the territory of Nuevo León.
