Rains Aggravate Potholes in Mérida; Streets Become Craters

Street maintenance in Mérida is a constant battle for the City Council crews, as potholes continue to multiply despite their efforts.

On street 67c in the Mulsay colony, there are some significant craters. There are eight potholes located just a few meters from the intersection with Circuito Colonias, where the IE-Tram now passes.

These potholes are not only wide but also very deep, posing a serious danger to all types of vehicles and pedestrians.

To mitigate the risk, a crate and a block have been placed to help drivers maneuver around the potholes.

Residents in the area mentioned that it all started with one pothole, which then multiplied. “It’s been six months since they came to repair it, even though it has already been reported,” said a young man whose house faces the problem.
