This is the Yucatán Country Club, home of the Mérida Open, with more than 300 hectares in the complex!

The Mérida Open complex at the entrance to the Yucatán Country Club is just a hint of the immensity that the place houses in its depths, because beyond the stadium that appears in the distance, a huge reserve hides a golf course, multiple tennis and paddle courts, as well as different sports academies that since the arrival of the WTA 250 have been inspired by the Yucatecan tournament.

This is what José Carlos Guzmán Alcocer, general director of the Yucatán Country Club, confessed to ESTO, who also assured that being part of the club in such an important tournament in its facilities has “all the members delighted”.

“These types of events magnify our facilities, magnify the potential that we also have with our tennis students or pupils, who have the opportunity to see how this professional tournament develops with high-level athletes, with a very good position in the ranking table. And for them it is an incentive to see that they can achieve the goals they have set for themselves,” he said.

“At the Country Club we have a tennis academy, where students are trained from a very early age, and with this option they can see that they can become world champions. And we feel satisfied,” he added.

The Mérida Open seeks to position Yucatán in terms of sporting events

Likewise, the director reiterated that beyond a business, the arrival of the Mérida Open to their facilities inspires them to continue promoting the sport.

“Supporting a sport, bringing this type of high-level events, which position our city and our state, and definitely making ourselves known worldwide, since we are broadcasting in 142 countries,” he explained.

Thus, in the midst of its 351 hectares and more than 900 residential houses, the Yucatán Country Club promotes sports from its sports clubs, but also with the inclusion of events such as the Mérida Open, where its young promises learn that “they can achieve what they set out to do.”

Great Relationship with The Santoscoys

Although the Mérida Open is held in its facilities, the Yucatán Country Club limits its powers to being the venue, since all the operational part lies with GS Management.

“On this occasion, Mr. Santoscoy’s company is dedicated to doing everything that is the operation itself of the tournament, and we as the venue, the host base, take charge of everything that is the facilities to provide a good service to the tournament. They handle everything that is operation, sales, promotion, advertising, the management of the players, and we provide them here a series of services that are also our facilities,” explained José Carlos Guzmán.

“Mr. Santoscoy are top-notch people who are always present at all high-quality events, and we thank them for having taken the facilities and the Yucatán Country Club team into account in order to develop an event of this magnitude,” he concluded.
