Migrant association in Querétaro warns of risk after Donald Trump’s victory

Fernando Rocha Mier, president of the civil association Migrantes Unidos en Caravana, said that the administration of whoever is elected as the executive of the United States (virtually being Donald Trump), has a pending issue that has been pending for several governments: immigration reform.

“While it is true that both Republican and Democratic administrations have not been able to carry out the long-awaited immigration reform, the Mexican migrant community is concerned about the hate speech from one of the contenders.”

This is because violence against migrants could escalate, due to Donald Trump’s hate speech when he calls them “murderers.”

“He has called migrants murderers and in this sense, the concern is that the hatred that is being incited could escalate once he reaches the presidency of the United States.”

He stressed that the migrant community is growing in groups within the United States and that they have brought out the right to vote.

“That is why, if the person who incites hatred towards migrants wins, we will be demanding that the SRE implement different protection protocols for the migrant community, immediately, and enforce all international treaties.”
