Three Men Found Dead in Mexicali Were from Mazatlán, Sinaloa

The three men found dead last Saturday in the Mexicali Valley were from Mazatlán, Sinaloa. According to the Attorney General of Baja California, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, the three individuals had traveled to the state capital to engage in activities related to criminal groups. She indicated that there is coordination with the director of public security of Mexicali, Luis Felipe Chan, to carry out the relevant investigations.

“They had arrived here in the city a few days ago, apparently for an intervention in organized crime groups. We are coordinating with the municipal public security director for what is happening in the valley,” she said.

Andrade Ramírez was also questioned about the events in the town of La Rumorosa, where migrants were allegedly attacked by elements of the National Guard. She stated that the incident occurred after the National Guard intercepted a vehicle related to human trafficking, carrying migrants of Colombian origin. A confrontation ensued between federal agents and the criminal group, resulting in two deaths.

“It was an event that took place during surveillance. According to the reports of the National Guard, they intercepted this vehicle carrying migrants from Colombia, and an attack was carried out by these people, resulting in a crossfire. However, we are investigating,” she explained.

Additionally, Andrade Ramírez reported that an arrest warrant was issued against five elements of the National Guard who were allegedly involved in the death of an agent of the Baja California Penitentiary System in previous months. They are currently detained in a penitentiary in Mazatlán, Sinaloa
