Israeli innovation for a safe and sustainable Mexico

México e Israel: 70 años de relaciones diplomáticas, cooperación y ...

Every International Cities Day represents an occasion to reflect on the crucial role of metropolises in people’s lives and sustainable development. With increasing urbanism, cities face complex challenges in security, mobility and sustainability. In this scenario, Israeli technological innovations can offer transformative solutions for Mexico’s cities, making them a better place to live.

According to INEGI, by March 2024, 61 percent of the population aged 18 and over feels unsafe in their city, highlighting the urgency of improving urban security. Israel’s “Safe Cities” solutions, which include artificial intelligence and data analytics, are vital. For example, Raycom provides 5G networks essential for emergency communication, improving coordination of authorities. BriefCam, with its real-time video analysis, helps identify behavioral patterns and respond to critical situations.

Connectivity is another key aspect. In 2022, 78.6 percent of the Mexican population aged six or older used the Internet, indicating a willingness to adopt digital solutions. Platforms such as CityShob facilitate urban resource management by connecting citizens with public services and real-time data. Friendly Technologies focuses on connectivity solutions and IoT device management, improving service interconnection and urban efficiency.

Regarding mobility, in January 2024, urban transport systems in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico served 161 million passengers, highlighting the need for an efficient transport system. ITC offers route analysis and accident prevention solutions, improving the user experience. Technologies such as Waze help drivers avoid traffic jams, facilitating mobility.

In addition, Mexico has increased its renewable energy generation capacity by 20 percent compared to the previous year, a crucial advance in urban sustainability. Technologies such as 374 Water, which transforms wastewater into clean water, and Breezometer, which provides real-time data on air quality, are examples of how sustainability can be promoted. SolarEdge contributes to the integration of renewable energy into urban infrastructure.

Collaboration with Israeli technology companies represents a valuable opportunity for Mexico, as these solutions can improve security and quality of life, establishing a model for other countries in the region.
